Network interactions as a factor of youth personal formation

Annotation:

The author of the article applies to the modern situation in education and emphasizes positive and negative tendencies characterizing the attitude of young people to education. The immersion of young people into virtual reality is defined as one of the main tendency considered differently both in science and in the society. Thus the problem of the personal formation of the youth in conditions of growing influence of virtual reality is observed in the article. The author considers the Net interaction through the prism of its pedagogical resources, it is determined by the dialogue character of the interaction; she emphasizes the possibility and necessity of its management. The forming potential of the Net interaction is revealed in the context of filling of the initiated and spontaneously emerging channels of the Net interaction with pedagogical contents orientating young people towards keeping to humanistic values and standards.

Topic of report: New media users and social interaction in the everyday life

The initial question I was asked to discuss is, how to characterize the difference between the US and Russian universities in the incorporation of the new educational technologies? Are Russian and US universities comparable in terms of using the modern technologies?
In responding to this question, I'll first bring into discussion my own observations and examples based on my personal teaching experience in a number of US and Russian universities, then I'll show some statistics on the topic (using the Internet in the US colleges today) to support some conclusions.

Sound Art in Information Society

Annotation:
The presentation will concentrate on 1) sound as cultural object in the context of contemporary art in information society and will 2) explore what happens to sound and music cultural perception in the digital modernity.
The approach used in the presentation is based on the following notions related to the contemporary art in general:
1. Contemporary art is technically and mass reproducible. It applies to sound art as well: the era of mass sound recording has put an end to the uniqueness of concert performance.
2. The means of technical reproduction of a unique art object dramatically affected the concept of authenticity and originality. The art becomes the art for everybody. As Jean Baudrillard put it: “Stop saying art is too expensive. Stop saying it is not for me…”.
3. Convergence of art, science and technology has questioned the notion of how art is created and what are its object and functions in the society.
4. In the art of the technicized modernity quantity transmutated into quality: dramatically increased number of participants changed the mode of participation.

Cultural Project as a Media Event: Regional Aspect

Annotation:

The actuality of the research is caused by the dual position of the traditional “high” culture and the necessity of keeping safe and promotion of the cultural values in the modern society. Cultural institutions (museums, theatres, libraries) are faced with the problems of visitors decrease, traditional audience’s lack of interest and mass media lack of interest to the content and cultural events, performing the hedonistic and entertaining functions in the postmodern society, but not the functions of education and information that were traditional for media texts.
If earlier the traditional culture needed to implement the educating function in the media texts in order to prolongate its existence and actuality in the future, then postclassical culture needs the entertaining function in order to develop its present.
Cultural events are precise historic private cases of realizing cultural processes, that are characterized by the unique features, variability of which is defined by the sum of their conditions and circumstances of their development.
The modern mass media influence on the outlooks of the modern audience and its fragments. Selection, constructing and forming the media events are several of the means of modus operandi of mass media. In the 21st century event makes a public response not by itself, but by the circumstances of its development as a “mediaevent”. The first notion of the concept “media event” concluded the idea that such an outstanding event is planned beforehand with the aim of its future television broadcasting.
Such activities transform the natural flow of events in the society and create the atmosphere of high expectations. The broad coverage of media events is reached through using a number of mass communication channels, targeting the maximum possible audience attention. All these create the conditions for providing targeted attention to the media event and its emotional and value atmosphere. Thus, the key question is the question of the character and mechanisms of imposing events in the modern visual electronic media.
