First Selfie From Space

New Media on The Internet
When in 1968 the crew of “Apollo 8” spaceship stepped on the surface of the Moon for the first time their well — known photo was taken. Nowadays we know it as “Earth Rising”. The only thing they lacked to make their success complete was Instagram as it could add the filter to the photo.

Today, Instagram has finally laid their way to space. On 8 April, 2014, astronauts from the International Space Station uploaded the first photo with the color filter they had made in space.
The photo, placed in the official Instagram-account ISS, is created as a selfie. On the photo we can see astronaut Steve Swanson in a seven-window module of the ISS observatory.
Swanson arrived to the orbit on March 25 together with Russian astronauts Alexander Skvortsov and Oleg Artemyev as part of the 39th expedition. The astronauts created an account several months ago and uploaded there their pictures of the flight preparations.
It is possible to notice that in recent years NASA has been attracting the public attention actively using social networks. They started using YouTube and Twitter, and are now turning to Instagram.
