Japanese Glasses Replace Translator

New Media on The Internet
If you want to visit Japan and don't know the language – it won't be a problem any more! This highly developed country plans to release glasses – translators by the beginning of the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020.

The latest development of the NTT DoCoMo Company combines cameras and computer in such a way that while looking at one thing one can see absolutely different things. One of the functions of such glasses is that the text in the native language of the glasses owner covers the Japanese inscription completely, instantly making the text understandable. This invention is a real gift for the foreign tourists, who come to the Land of the Rising Sun where no restaurant menus are translated into foreign languages.

The quality of the translation performed by the glasses is certainly far from being perfect, but they are quite capable to translate some simple phrases or a restaurant menu.

The glasses have another interesting function — the ability to turn any flat surface into a touch screen, project various icons and identify the position of the owner’ hands on it. Thus, the glasses owner will be able to touch any visible «tag» and give a command to search something on the Internet.

The issue date and cost of the glasses haven’t been defined yet.
